Sand Lizardfish

Two lizardfish that sit propped on their pelvic fins, waiting to ambush. Variegated Lizardfish is grey to red, with about six hourglass-shaped dark saddles along the upper side, sometimes merged into one solid red band, and prefers to rest on hard surfaces. Sand Lizardfish is brownish with five to seven red-brown bars crossing a broken red band, a cluster of six dark spots on the tip of the snout, and buries itself in sand with only its eyes showing.
