Look-alikeGreasy Grouper

Both are pale groupers covered in dark spots. Blacksaddle Grouper's spots are set apart, with gaps at least as wide as the spots, and it has a black saddle blotch on the back, a smaller one on the tail base, and a thin white line along the dusky edges of its soft fins. Greasy Grouper is longer-bodied, with a bigger head and spots set closer together.
