Threadfin Butterflyfish

Both are white with two sets of crossing diagonal lines and a black bar through the eye. Threadfin Butterflyfish has a black spot at the rear of the dorsal fin with a trailing filament behind it, and bright yellow rear fins. Vagabond Butterflyfish has no filament and, as an adult, no dorsal spot: a black band runs across the base of the tail instead, and a second one across the middle of the tail fin.
