Two grey chubs that graze algae in schools on surf-swept reefs. Brassy Chub is silvery with a bluish sheen and 23 to 29 thin golden lines along the body, plus a golden streak below the eye, and its dorsal and anal fins are very low. Blue Sea Chub is plain blue-grey to dark, with at most pale lines along the scale rows when young, and its soft dorsal and anal fins rise high at the front, leaving near-vertical rear edges.
