Scarus dimidiatus, also known as the yellowbarred parrotfish, is a marine ray-finned fish, a parrotfish from the family Scaridae. It is found in the western Pacific Ocean from Indonesia east to Samoa as far north as the Ryukyu Islands and as far south as the Great Barrier Reef.

Side by side, with what tells them apart.

Close relatives whose grey-to-yellow females carry dark bars or a saddle over the back. Dark-capped Parrotfish females have fewer, less upright dark bars. Males: Saddled Parrotfish has a blue snout, a blue band behind the eye and a light-centred bar between the eye and the pectoral fin; Dark-capped Parrotfish lacks that bar, is darker and less brilliantly blue over the head and back, and is usually larger.
