Two small tunas of the same surface shoals. Skipjack Tuna has four to six dark stripes running lengthwise along its silvery belly and lower flanks. Frigate Tuna has no belly stripes: its marks are wavy, oblique dark lines on the back behind the first dorsal fin, and it stays under 70 cm, where a skipjack passes a metre.
