Two silvery, spotted flagtails of island rivers. Rock Flagtail has dark-edged scales on the back and a black blotch on each lobe of the tail, which grows until most of the tail is black in adults. Spotted Flagtail's tail is pale with a black rear edge that widens at the tips, often with a dark chevron inside it; its snout and chin tip are blackish, there is a red patch on its anal fin, and it stays around 21 cm.
