Sibling species: both are blue-green and hover in clouds over branching coral. Black-axil Chromis has a black spot at the base of its pectoral fin, in its armpit. Blue-green Chromis has at most a dusky smudge there, made of fine black dots, and stays a little smaller (10 cm against 12).
